We welcome applications from a variety of science and engineering majors. Successful students have entered the program with Bachelors degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Marine Biology, Microbiology, and pre-medical and pre-health sciences degrees, among others.

The program uses a holistic review process for applications, considering various factors including your field of interest. Applicants with a foreign BPharm degree without research experience are generally not competitive for this program. For additional queries, refer to our FAQ page.

Steps

Fall 2025 Complete Application Receipt Deadline: January 1, 2025

Step one

Eligibility Verification: We follow OSU Graduate School’s minimum academic requirements. Please ensure you meet these requirements.

Step Two

Document Collection: Assemble the following documents for the application review:

  • Transcripts: Gather your unofficial academic records/transcripts for the initial review. Official transcripts will be required if admission is granted.
  • Test Scores: Note that the GRE is not mandatory for this program. However, international students must provide a qualifying English language proficiency exam score.
  • Reference Letters: Arrange for three reference letters to be submitted with your application. Letter writers will be sent instructions for uploading their letters to the application portal. Guidance on choosing your referees can be found here.

Step Three

Personal Statement Preparation: Respond to the questions in the application about your goals, educational background, research experience, and readiness for graduate education. These responses will form your ‘personal statement’. No additional statement is required as a document upload.

Step Four

International Requirements: If you’re applying from outside the U.S., ensure you meet the specific academic requirements for your country and the English language proficiency requirements.

  • Waived from English Language Testing: The English language proficiency exam requirement is waived for applicants who hold either citizenship or a baccalaureate or graduate degree from a recognized or accredited institution in any of the following countries: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Overseas Territories, British Virgin Islands, Botswana, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Eswatini, Fiji, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Montserrat, Namibia, Nigeria, New Zealand, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Step Five

Application Submission: Complete and submit your completed application by the January 1, 2025 deadline for the Fall 2025 intake.

Application Fee Waivers

Our program is unable to provide application fee waivers. Domestic applicants can apply for a waiver through the OSU Graduate School. International applicants can check with their local EducationUSA advising office to see if there are educational opportunity programs or local recommendations to fund study in the United States.
